“I try to live as vibrantly and consciously as possible, and am devoted to bringing relief from our physical bodies in hopes to improve one’s overall quality of life.
Growing a new human is a very physically-demanding endeavor. I hope to encourage balance and restore your body’s ability to achieve homeostasis, and to encourage and enable you to live your life and express their gifts more truly and fully, through bodywork and movement.
In 2004, a good friend of mine caught his new daughter born at home, in Washington State. I had no idea that was even an option before, but suddenly knew this is what I wanted when I was to become a father. Fast forward to July 2014, my daughter Vivian was born in the comfort and safety of our home, and then my son, Dylan, in 2019. Both were truly magical and transformative experiences, as Fatherhood has been since.
I became trained in Prenatal Massage in order to support my partner through the many demands of pregnancy and motherhood. Since then, prenatal massage is one of my favorite massages to give, as it provides so much respite and relief to someone who is giving so much. This is something I wish for all Parents and Parents-to-be.”

Emily Couto
Yoga Coordinator & Instructor
Emily is a mother of two young children, a yoga teacher, a reiki master, an avid reader and an arts & crafts enthusiast. She drew on the practices of yoga while pregnant and in labor and hopes that she can pass that knowledge on to her students through her teaching. As a yoga teacher at the Womb Room, her goal is to guide those entering motherhood through a practice that is not only soothing in the moment, but that will support the body and mind for all of the challenges that are to come.
Emily has been teaching since 2013; she came to the practice with a deep love of movement from her years as a childhood athlete. Through the years, she has developed a strong understanding of body awareness, energy, alignment, and action. In her teaching, she encourages students to fully inhabit their bodies and breath, embracing each moment as an opportunity for exploration. She firmly believes that yoga is for everyone, regardless of background, flexibility, or experience.
In Emily’s classes, students are guided breath by breath through intelligent sequencing designed to challenge, awaken, and ultimately soothe, leading them into a state of presence—free from judgment or expectation.

Zainab Chopra
Birth + Postpartum Doula
Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland (a small town with the perk of being near Ocean City!), Zainab now calls the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore home. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Education from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. After spending the majority of her career as a teacher, Zainab feels this next chapter—supporting families as a doula—has been a natural evolution of her lifelong commitment to care, connection, and advocacy.
With over 10 years of experience supporting families as a nanny, teacher, and mentor, Zainab brings a calming, grounded presence to the birth and postpartum spaces. She has trained as a doula through an immersive international program and continues to expand her learning in areas like prenatal yoga, childbirth education, and herbalism.
Zainab offers both birth and postpartum support and tailors her approach to meet each family’s unique needs. Whether she’s providing hands-on comfort measures during labor, emotional support during a tender postpartum night, or helping parents feel informed and empowered, Zainab shows up with deep compassion and a nonjudgmental heart. While she’s drawn to holistic, natural approaches, her foundation is rooted in evidence-based care and honoring each client’s values, choices, and autonomy.
At The Womb Room, we are inspired by Zainab’s “why”:
“To me, community is everything—and being of service is a privilege. As a brown woman in the LGBTQ community, I know firsthand how powerful it is to have someone in your corner, especially in medical spaces. Birthing people deserve to be deeply seen, respected, and celebrated—and I’m honored to hold that space.”
Zainab’s mission is to help you feel deeply supported and connected—to your body, your voice, your partner, and your baby. Her hope is that every family she works with walks away feeling more confident, more heard, and more at home in their journey.
A little more about Zainab: Zainab is a nature lover at heart—the ocean is her happy place! She’s a self-described homebody who delights in the cozy comforts of life: home-cooked meals, baking new recipes (especially ones tied to her culture), and long, chatty hikes with friends. She’s always eager to grow, learn, and try new things—both personally and professionally.

Yoga Instructor, RYT 200
Imani has been a dedicated student of yoga since 2015 and has been guiding others in their practice for the past three years. She is trained in contemporary Baptiste-inspired power yoga and has experience teaching a variety of styles including vinyasa, hot power, and slow flow. Imani is currently working toward her second prenatal yoga certification as she continues to deepen her work supporting mothers through pregnancy and beyond.
Imani also teaches free, community-based classes through the Rest Easy Bby Collective in Baltimore, helping make yoga more accessible to her local community. With strong ties to the mental health community, her teaching centers on nurturing the connection between mind, body, and spirit. She encourages students to cultivate self-awareness, build resilience, and develop healthy boundaries both on and off the mat.
As a prenatal yoga teacher and mother herself, Imani is especially passionate about supporting mothers in strengthening their voices and deepening their sense of agency. Through mindful movement and breath, she helps students build trust in themselves, skills that carry from the mat into birth and motherhood.
Imani’s approach to yoga is deeply informed by her own mental health journey. During a particularly challenging time in her life, yoga became a powerful source of grounding and healing, and the practice has continued to support her wellbeing over the past decade.
Outside of yoga, Imani works as a writer at Johns Hopkins. She also writes poetry and prose and runs a literary magazine. Born and raised in Baltimore, she is a mother of two young children and loves spending time outdoors in the sun and in nature. LCSW-C
Clare Donofrio, LCSW-C (she/her/hers) is passionate about supporting clients through pregnancy loss, pregnancy ambivalence, and the journey of trying to conceive. Pregnancy and family building can be full of joy, but they also carry losses both big and small - from recovering after a traumatic birth to navigating new anxiety or depression symptoms, shifting identities, or changing partnership dynamics. Clare’s goal is to help new parents trust their intuition and feel confident and comfortable in parenthood.
She’s drawn to the potential for validation and healing in the therapeutic process, and incorporates somatic experiencing and parts work into her practice -helping clients recognize their own strengths and needs.
“My own reproductive health and pregnancy experiences inspired me to become a perinatal therapist. I know what it is like to be a pregnant person seeking support, and to experience disappointment and disillusionment with our health care and social support systems.”
Clare is committed to decolonization and anti-racism, both in her professional practice and in her personal life as a parent and Baltimore resident. She is queer-allied and loves working with queer, trans, and gender non-conforming families.
Clare first trained as a full-spectrum doula in 2014 and went on to co-found the Baltimore Doula Project, with the vision that every pregnant person in the Baltimore area should receive holistic, non-judgmental care throughout their pregnancy, regardless of outcome. She later studied social work and public health, focusing on maternal and child health disparities in the United States.
“All of my professional and personal experiences have fortified my respect and admiration for the strength, wisdom, and resilience of birthing people.”
For the past four years, she has worked with expectant and new families across Baltimore City, filling gaps in support networks through mental health care, psychoeducation, health education, and support group facilitation. She’s had the privilege of supporting pregnant people in many different settings - local hospitals and clinics, a Baltimore City elementary school and community center, and the Maryland state women’s prison.
Clare is a native Baltimorean and lives with her partner, two kids and cat. She loves being outside in nature, traveling, listening to music and podcasts, and watching reality TV. Above all, she loves the chance to connect with parents - and to connect new families with each other.

Maria Simon
(She/her)
Yoga Instructor + Ayurvedic Health Practitioner
Maria’s journey with yoga began as a teenager when she tried a few classes at her local YMCA. She quickly found that yoga was a powerful tool for managing anxiety. On a whim, in 2013, she decided to sign up for yoga teacher training—a decision that would profoundly shape her life. After completing her 200-hour certification, Maria dove straight into her 500-hour training, and she has been teaching and sharing her love for yoga ever since.
During her teacher training, Maria was introduced to Ayurveda, sparking an insatiable curiosity that led her to pursue formal education in this ancient healing system. In a beautiful twist of fate, Maria completed her Ayurvedic Health Practitioner program and submitted her final paperwork the same day she gave birth to her son, Wren.
Life has certainly changed for Maria since becoming a mother. Now, she balances time between caring for her son and their beloved dog, Raita, and teaching yoga. While her days are filled with the joy and chaos of new motherhood, Maria feels called to help others in the birthing community, particularly in the postpartum period—a crucial and often overlooked phase in the U.S. healthcare system. Having experienced the benefits of Ayurvedic care before and after birth, she is deeply grateful for the knowledge she gained and is eager to share it with others.
Maria has been teaching yoga for over 11 years, gaining experience with various styles that have shaped her understanding of how people move and heal differently. It was yoga that eventually led her to Ayurveda, where her true passion lies. Now, she is determined to bring the healing wisdom of Ayurveda to the Baltimore community, with a particular focus on supporting birthing people with both prenatal and postnatal care.
Maria is passionate about environmental justice and equality, values she shares with her partner, a staff attorney at Maryland Legal Aid. Together, they are dedicated to creating a better world for their family and their community.

Connie Sanabria is a passionate and emerging yoga instructor with a fresh perspective and deep enthusiasm for sharing the practice. She began her journey in 2021 by completing a Yoga Alliance registered 200-hour teacher training through Awakening Yoga Academy, where she learned the foundations of functional movement, body alignment, and the importance of honoring each individual body.
Connie first began teaching yoga at Baltimore City College High School during the virtual learning year and continued in person the following year. At the time, she was also a full-time educator and saw firsthand how students were seeking ways to destress and incorporate movement into their daily lives. After transitioning out of the classroom and into motherhood, her curiosity about her changing body led her to complete an 85-hour Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training with Lily Dwyer Begg in 2023.
Today, Connie specializes in prenatal yoga, baby and me yoga, and toddler yoga. She is especially excited about teaching toddler yoga, where she finds joy in watching children interpret poses in creative and playful ways.
A mother to a young daughter, Connie finds magic in everyday adventures, whether walking through city parks, drawing together, playing music, or traveling. A lifelong lover of exploration, she previously led student trips to France and holds a special place in her heart for Italy.
In her classes, Connie incorporates pranayama as a powerful tool to energize, calm, or find flow. “Our society is no longer set up as a ‘village’ to help support new parents. Friends and family don’t always know what to say or how to support us through this journey, leading us to feel more alone and invalidated in our experiences.
I aim to provide a safe, unfiltered therapy space where my clients can speak freely about all the complicated emotions that comes along with the perinatal journey, without the fear of judgments or expectations of ‘how they should feel.”
Rebecca utilizes a holistic, mind body and neuroscience-based approach to therapy, emphasizing the interconnection between all five spheres of health (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social health). Her approach includes traditional talk therapy, mindfulness, Brainspotting, and principles from Yoga and Polyvagal Theory to help cope with symptoms of anxiety and depression, and desensitize the physiological trauma response.
Rebecca uses Narrative Therapy and Birth Story Processing to help cohesively process your birthing story from pre-conception, through pregnancy to labor/delivery and postpartum, honoring the recollection of each stage in your journey to parenthood. She also places a strong emphasis on teaching self-advocacy skills to help you navigate the complexities of the perinatal medical system.
